a world where kick-ass Corvettes rule, the ZR1 has always
been in a class by itself. That was as true 20 years ago when
the 1990 ZR-1 made the world sit up and take notice as it is
with today’s 638HP factory supercharged super-Corvette.
A lot of people would give their eye teeth to own either version; Ron
DeSmedt of Newtown, PA, owns both of the ZR1s pictured above. But
then again, he’s a real Corvette guy -- he owns several other tasty
‘Vettes, and he also the proprietor of Contemporary Corvette, the
region’s largest Corvette-only boneyard, too.
As far as automotive pedigrees go, neither incarnation of the ZR1
is lacking in any respect. Dave McLellan was the Corvette chief engineer
